The Guggenheim Museum Bilbao unveils a new project in partnership with Google Arts & Culture

The Guggenheim Museum Bilbao and Google Arts & Culture have launched a joint project which offers new ways of getting to know and experiencing contemporary art and the Museum’s building.

It is designed for younger audiences via a site on the Google Arts & Culture platform specifically dedicated to the Museum.

This unique partnership, promoted within the context of the Museum’s 20th Anniversary, is the outcome of months of work during which Google Arts & Culture, the cultural arm of Google, has provided its technology to reinvent the experience of users, visitors, and groups associated with the Museum. The project consists of a short film and additional content related to the Museum; a representative sample of the Museum’s Collection; a selection of images of the construction of the building; and virtual tours inside and outside the Museum with Street View Technology, including Richard Serra’s iconic installation The Matter of Time as well as spaces that are usually closed to the public, such as the building’s rooftops. For the first time, it also includes painting tours which provide a sneak peek at the details concealed in paintings like James Rosenquist’s Flamingo Capsule, one of the paintings in the Georg Baselitz suite Mrs. Lenin and the Nightingale, Anselm Kiefer’s The Land of the Two Rivers, and Sigmar Polke’s Morning Wood
